Beatles recording contract auction on Thursday a real window into history (pics) - Beatles Examiner

 

An extremely rare find of an original copy of the Beatles' very first recording contract signed in ink by the young Beatles in Germany in 1961 is to be auctioned by British auctioneers Fame Bureau Thursday.

Ringo Starr tour may be coming to Hungary, according to Budapest venue - National Beatles | Examiner.com

The website for the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Hungary is listing a concert for Ringo Starr and the All-Starr Band that is not among the confirmed dates showing on his website. The Budapest concert is listed for June 28.

According to reports from Rolling Stone.com and the Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Studios has turned down the remake of "Yellow Submarine," the planned modern version combining live action and animation like Zemeckis' remake of "A Christmas Carol" and the recently opened "Mars Needs Moms." The movie could still be done by another studio.

Yoko Ono says performing at SXSW is dream come true

In a just published interview with Brian Atkinson of the Austin Statesman-American, Yoko Ono says her upcoming interview and performance at South By Southwest this month fulfills a long-held wish. 

"I always wanted to go, but I didn't have the chance," she tells Atkinson. "Now I not only (will) do my discussion with (KUT 90.5 disc jockey) Jody (Denberg), but also I have a chance to do my show."

Beatles book 'Liverpool Landscapes' travels to places they'll remember - Beatles Examiner

There have been books on the Beatles' hometown of Liverpool before, notably David Bedford's excellent "Liddypool,"  which features interviews with many of the local people involved in their story. One of the newest additions looks at Liverpool from a different angle.

David Lewis' "The Beatles: Liverpool Landscapes" (also available from Amazon.co.uk) is a guidebook to many of the places, both well-known and obscure, that figured into the Beatles' life in their hometown before the group began and during their rise to fame.
