John Lennon was named the fifth greatest singer of all time in a poll conducted of musicians (including Ringo Starr) by Rolling Stone magazine, reports Gigwise. The top five from the bottom up: Lennon, Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles and, at the top, Aretha. Some of the profiles were written by a famous name. Lennon's was written by Jackson Browne. Paul McCartney (no profile) made #11 (right behind James Brown and ahead of Little Richard). Here's the complete list from rollingstone.com. You have to wonder, if musicians were the ones who were polled, why Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett were completely forgotten and are nowhere to be found.
