Buck Owens dead

Reports on the news wires that legendary country singer Buck Owens has died at age 76. Owens, of course, was the original artist that sang "Act Naturally," later covered by Ringo with the Beatles and re-recorded in a duet with Owens himself. But Owens was one of the greatest "old school" country artists there was. The town of Bakersfield, CA., was the home of Owens' nightclub -- on Buck Owens Boulevard -- where he'd perform every weekend. We saw the nightclub last year, but only from the outside, unfortunately. A very cool place. We never did get to see him perform. But we've heard enough of his great music, including his incredible live album with the Buckaroos recorded at Carnegie Hall in 1964. And one of our favorite Christmas songs is his "Santa Looked a Lot Like Daddy."

Bye, Buck. We'll miss ya.
