The Star Club meets Heather Mills
What a weird week this has been. That whole Star Club story has been laughable from the beginning. That anyone would take it seriously after the first go-round is surprising. It was fairly obvious from the wording of the press release that Fuego didn't really have what they said they did. And to charge people $5 each for each track? No thanks.
And if you're wondering why we haven't followed the Heather Mills story inch by inch, well, are these stupid stories from bad sources really worth mentioning? We don't think so. Let the British press and gossip hounds run with it. Most of those Mills stories sound unbelievable, anyway. Who needs it?

Those "new" Star Club tapes aren't so new
Those big deal "new" Star Club tapes aren't such a big deal at all.
As we wrote in our latest update, we have heard the short excerpts and one complete track that are on Fuego's site. Despite the hype of the press release, not all this stuff is new. Some of it has been released as part of the original Star Club tapes, some of it has been bootlegged and some of it ("Lovesick Blues," sorry to say) isn't the Beatles at all.
And again, despite the hype in the press release, the quality is no better than the previous Star Club tapes. The only completely new track of what's circulating is the excerpt of "A Taste of Honey."
Here's a list of tracks that Fuego apparently has. This may not be complete: Road Runner, The Hippy Hippy Shake, A Taste of Honey, Money, It¹s You That I¹m Thinking Of [I don't know this is the actual title], Ask Me Why, I Saw Her Standing There, Ramshackle Shack, Lovesick Blues, First Taste Of Love, Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Do You Believe, Ooh Pooh Pah Doo, Twist and Shout and Rebel Rouser. Some of these titles are certainly familiar. Some of it has been released before and some of it isn't the Beatles at all. And the quality is, again, no better than the previous Star Club tapes.
None of this should be a surprise. We seen overhyped news of unearthed Beatle tapes come up before with the same result.

Live Beatle tapes?
We had a news item about this today, but is there anyone that a) believes this is what they say it is or b) thinks the Beatles won't try to stop it?
Two facts in the press release issued by Fuego are wrong and already make this suspect. For one, the story has circulated for years that Ringo first played on the Star Club tapes released years ago and stopped by the Beatles.
Secondly, and maybe more significantly, Fuego is saying the Beatles recorded these after the Star Club tapes. But the Star Club tapes were recorded at the end of their engagement in Hamburg, so the recording date of these new tapes is already questioned.
Of course, we've been through these undiscovered tape things before. We think it'll all come out wrong in the end.
