Beatles contract auction gets big bucks

The copy of The Beatles' first contract with manager Brian Epstein sold at auction for more than $426,000, reports the Associated Press.

The document was signed by the four Beatles on Jan. 24, 1962. The contract entitled Epstein to take 25 percent of the group's earnings once each member was making more than 200 pounds a week. But Epstein did not sign the contract until Oct, 1, 1962 unil a promise he made to get the band a record deal was fulfilled. He got the group a record deal with EMI/Parlaphone.
