Apple shakeup followup

Musicweek is putting a different spin on what we reported the other day about unrest at Apple, turning it around to say that the Beatles’ willingness to settle with Apple/iTunes may have been hastened by Apple Corps boss Neil Aspinall's plans to retire.

Aspinall's intentions could have persuaded the remaining Beatles and the estates of John Lennon and George Harrison to hurry to put in place a deal and get the Apple house in order before Aspinall leaves, their report claims.

They also quote a source as saying that EMI Recorded Music UK chairman and CEO Tony Wadsworth has been pressuring Apple Corps to settle with Apple Inc and iTunes
after the Beatles lost their UK court battle against the computer company last year.

But another insider close to The Beatles denies this, saying reports of Aspinall’s retirement are greatly exaggerated. (Thanks to SR.)
