I guess it's the price of fame that if a celebrity has a nasty rep, no matter how well deserved or not, anything they do comes out looking bad, even if there was no intention for it to be that way.
Take the case of Yoko Ono. At the premiere for "The Concert for George" last week, a tabloid (don't it figure!) report claimed Yoko didn't want to be photographed with Paul and Ringo. Another report we heard through an eyewitness, however, said Yoko arrived after Paul and Ringo arrived.
Because of that, can anyone say for sure she was refusing to be photographed? Or was it just a case of her plane arriving late from the East Coast?
Now, we don't claim to have a close relationship with Yoko, but we have interviewed her personally twice. Both times, she was quite pleasant and engaging to talk to (not all celebrities, in dealings with the press, are). In fact, when we discussed the Internet in our first interview, she was absolutely bubbling about it.
We know that Yoko and Paul have had a contentious relationship, but all reports are that Yoko and Ringo have had no such problems. And it's obvious some people in the press have more fun assuming Yoko's done it again.
Jeez, give the woman a break. Putting aside the Yoko-Paul battles (which, in our opinion, is more Paul's fault than hers), these past few years, Yoko has hardly been living up to the Dragon Lady image some people seem to still hold of her.
Maybe it's about time that some people started to give Yoko a chance.
