BREAKING NEWS!: MACCA ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN SUMMER TOUR
Posted today at www.paulmccartney.com and sent to us by Bill King of Beatlefan:
OH YEAH! MACCA'S BACK TO ROCK WITH EUR-"O4 SUMMER" TOUR
27.02.2004
McCartney’s NEW â€Å“04 Summerâ€ Stadium Tour Gets Macca Here, There And Somewhere’s He’s Never Been
The wait for summer is over and so is the wait for the legions of PAUL McCARTNEY fans whose cities have NEVER played host to a night of history Macca-style. Set to kick-off on Tuesday, May 25th at Gijon’s El Molinon Stadium, Macca’s NEW, 13-city â€Å“04 Summer Tourâ€ will be highlighted with 7 first-time performance visits as well as 5 concerts in cities that haven’t rocked with him since 1989’s â€Å“Get Back World Tourâ€ or 1993’s â€Å“New World Tourâ€.
â€Å“Touring really has been a lot of fun for us and the audiences have been great,â€ said McCartney. â€Å“So why stop now? I’m looking forward to playing and to visiting some new places.â€
The all-stadium â€Å“04 Summer Tourâ€, which will feature music from The Beatles, Wings and McCartney’s solo career, is currently set to play to nearly 700,000, which would bring to more then 3 million, who have seen McCartney since his return to the road in April 2002.
Among many of the highlights of â€Å“04 Summer Tourâ€ are sure to be Macca’s return to Russia, for a special performance in St. Petersburg’s Palace Square, as well as his first-time visits to Lisbon, Leipzig, Prague and Horsens before closing out the all-stadium tour with a special appearance at The Glastonbury Festival.
In addition, Macca is looking forward to performances in Madrid, Gothenburg, Zurich, Oslo and Helsinki, cities that haven’t seen him in more then a decade. A return to Paris is also planned for Thursday, June 24th, where McCartney’s critically hailed â€Å“Back In The Worldâ€ Tour began last March.

George Harrison reissues announced for U.S.
Capitol Record today (Thursday) officially announced the forthcoming release in the U.S. market of the George Harrison reissues we've been talking about on the site. The release date for both the individual albums and "The Dark Horse Years" boxed set is Feb. 24.
Here's Capitol's announcement:
GEORGE HARRISON
THE DARK HORSE YEARS – INDIVIDUAL ALBUMS REISSUED
DELUXE BOX SET WITH EXCLUSIVE DVD
ORIGINAL ALBUMS DIGITALLY REMASTERED, WITH BONUS TRACKS AND EXPANDED BOOKLETS
On February 24, 2004, Capitol Records will release the newly acquired George Harrison â€Å“Dark Horseâ€ catalogue, making available six albums which have been unavailable for years. A brand new deluxe box set, with an exclusive DVD, will also be available.
Each of the original 6 albums, spanning the ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s, has been digitally re-mastered and now contain previously unavailable bonus tracks, with 12-page booklets, including lyrics and unseen photographs (bonus tracks were not available for the â€Å“Live In Japanâ€ double album so this will be issued as a double SACD hybrid in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound).
The albums are;
Thirty Three & 1/3
George Harrison
Somewhere in England
Gone Troppo
Cloud Nine
Live in Japan
Each of the above albums is available individually and as part of the very special boxed set, â€Å“The Dark Horse Years, 1976 – 1992â€.
THE DARK HORSE YEARS, 1976 – 1992
Comprising all the above 6 CDs plus a DVD, the box also includes a casebound,

That darned tape...
Maybe it's the holiday stress, but the more I think about that supposed '76 reunion "tape" that's being auctioned, the more ticked I get ...that people are actually thinking this might be true. It's almost so obvious that it couldn't be.
The stupid song titles -- "Happy Feeling," "Back Home," "Rockin' Once Again," "People Of The Third World" and "Little Girl" -- are almost a giveaway. An erased tape? (Why not unerase it?) The changed stories. It just doesn't make any sense.
If the sellers are seriously trying to peddle this tape, prove what you say is true.
Otherwise, just go away.

That '76 Beatles reunion story is back ...
That supposed 1976 Beatles reunion tape we wrote about a few days ago is in the news again, thanks to reports on NME.com, the BBC and the Scotsman. The tape is to be auctioned by momentsintime.com. If that name sounds familiar, it's the same house that had (and later withdrew) the sale of the "Double Fantasy" album autographed by John for the man who later killed him. The BBC quotes a spokesperson for Paul McCartney, who said he was "not aware" of any reunion. Another spokesman for Beatles producer George Martin said he had "no knowledge" of the recording session.
The session, said to have been recorded at Davlen Studios in Los Angeles and produced by George Martin, is said to have resulted in tracks with these titles: "Happy Feeling," "Back Home," "Rockin' Once Again," "People Of The Third World" and "Little Girl." (Never mind that the titles don't sound like anything the Beatles would ever have recorded.) The auction house said it claims to have documentation the sessions took place.

Breaking news: George Harrison nominated for three Grammys!!
George Harrison has been nominated for three Grammys in the nominations released Thursday morning. One is for best Pop Vocal Album for "Brainwashed," another is for best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Any Road" and the third is for Pop Instrumental Performance for "Marwa Blues." No nominations of any other Beatles were announced. This is an incredible and well-deserved honor for such an incredible album.
Here are the three categories George is nominated in, along with his competition for the awards:
"Pop" seems to be a catch-all category for the Grammys when you consider the assortment of artists who are nominated here. George belongs in the rock category, rather than pop. He has some interesting competition in Sting, Ry Cooder and Randy Newman, to name a couple. We'll cross our fingers that George goes three for three.
(Note: Earlier in the day, we had George listed for a nomination for Pop Collaboration With Vocals. That was incorrect and we apologize for the error. The above nominations are correct.)
Here are the three categories George is nominated in, along with his competition for the awards:
6. Male Pop Vocal Performance: "Any Road," George Harrison ; "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," Michael McDonald ; "Send Your Love," Sting; "Cry Me a River," Justin Timberlake; "Keep Me in Your Heart," Warren Zevon.
9. Pop Instrumental Performance: "Patricia," Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban; "Marwa Blues," George Harrison; "Honey-Dipped," Dave Koz; "Seabiscuit," Randy Newman ; "The Nutcracker Suite," The Brian Setzer Orchestra.
11. Pop Vocal Album: "Stripped," Christina Aguilera; "Brainwashed," George Harrison; "Bare," Annie Lennox ; "Motown," Michael McDonald; "Justified," Justin Timberlake.
